Committees

Much of the work of the presbytery is accomplished by its committees, which are described below.

Administration

This committee oversees the work of the Stated Clerk and Treasurer, recommends an annual budget, and examines the Session Minutes of each of the churches.

Candidates, Licentiates, and Interns (CLIC)

This committee provides care and guidance to ministerial candidates under the care of Presbytery,  provides guidance to licentiates and those seeking licensure (to preach at churches in the presbytery), and oversees the training of those seeking ordination during their year-long internship program.

Continuing Education

This committee identifies topics and areas of interest to the presbytery and arranges for outside speakers or members of the presbytery who will facilitate training and discussion in those areas.

Examinations

This committee examines candidates and ministers seeking admission to the presbytery and candidates and elders seeking licensure.  The committee reports on its work and recommends those who should move on and be examined at a meeting of the presbytery.

Mission to North America (MNA)

This committee promote evangelism and home missions throughout the presbytery, acts as a liaison to the PCA's Mission to North America, and promotes and oversees the planting of new churches.

Nominations

This committee nominates men to serve on the other committees and to serve at the PCA General Assembly level.

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF)

This committee oversees the work of the campus ministers and staff members who serve on various campuses in the area.  These currently include: UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, North Carolina Central, NC State, Meredith College, East Carolina, and UNC Wilmington.

Shepherding

This committee assists pastors, sessions, and churches with difficulties in the church (at their request), and assists pastors in life and ministry, especially those who are laboring in non-church contexts.

World Missions

This committee promotes a concern for world missions through the presbytery, assists local churches in their world missions efforts, and acts as a liaison to the PCA's Mission to the World.
